Learn to Row

Our popular Introduction to Rowing 101 and 201 courses are led by Wing Kam (Masters Rowing Coach).  The courses are ideal for anyone who would just like to give rowing a go or may be interested in joining our masters squad as a novice.*  

We welcome all ages 27yrs + and fitness abilities...it's never too late to start rowing!

To register your interest for our next Introduction to Rowing course, please complete our Google Form and we'll get in touch once we have confirmed dates and signup details (see dates below).

Course Format:  

We run our Introduction to Rowing 'Sculling 101' course over 3 x consecutive weekends (6 x lessons)...we will then look to offer a follow on Learn to Row 'Sculling 201' course for those who may be interested in a pathway to join the club (we only run the Sculling 201 course when we have membership capacity for novice rowers):

• Timing: Saturday and Sunday, 9 - 11 am (6 x lessons)

• Course Fee (per course): $460 (incl GST - payable in advance)

• Venue:   North Shore Rowing Club, Lake Pupuke (1 Northcote Road, Northcote)

Upcoming Learn to Row Dates:

Our next Sculling 101 Learn to Row course is likely to run on the following dates:

• Saturday & Sunday 26th & 27th September

• Saturday & Sunday 3rd & 4th October 

• Saturday & Sunday 10th & 11th October

For those that complete Sculling 101 and may be interested in continuing rowing with our club,* or just want to consolidate what they have learnt, Sculling 201 is likely to be run on the following dates:

• Saturday & Sunday 24th & 25th October

• Saturday & Sunday 31st October & 1st November

• Saturday & Sunday 14th and 15th November

*  Joining North Shore Masters Rowing Club (as a novice/new rower):  our capacity to take on novice/new rowers in our Masters membership is limited (due to the additional coaching/support required whilst new rowers gain experience), hence to join our club as a novice rower, you must be 27yrs+ and would need to have completed both Introduction to Rowing 'Sculling 101' course and Learn to Row 'Sculling 201' course.  All applications to join the club will then need to be approved by the NSMRC Committee (at Committee Meeting).   If you are thinking that you might like to join NSMRC, we will be happy to discuss the new rower pathway with you once you have completed your Introduction to Rowing Sculling 101 course.
